Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Dermal Fillers are used to correct facial lines, wrinkles, folds and some scars. HA is very similar to the HA’s that are found in human skin, muscles, and joints. Their primary function in the body is to provide volume and pliability to the skin. HA’s have the capacity to bind water up to a 1,000 times it’s volume which makes them ideal as a filler material.

Dermal Fillers offered at Good Health Rejuvenation are Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvéderm Ultra® and Juvéderm Ultra Plus®. All are cosmetic dermal fillers that replace volume and restore youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
How long do Dermal Filler products last?
It depends on many factors such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age of the patient, as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the patient. In general the majority of patients report that 50 – 80% of the effect remains after 6 months. Most patients choose to have a touch up done within 6 – 12 months of the original treatment so they can possibly extend the effects up to 18 months. Even while a HA filler is being naturally degraded, what remains of the filler attracts water from the body, and that function allows it to hold its shape even longer.
Do the injections hurt?
HA products are injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultra fine needle. Dr. Polon has her patients use a topical anesthetic prior to their treatment. In some cases she will also use a dental block for injections around the mouth.
How do Dermal Fillers differ from Botox® Cosmetic?
Botox Cosmetic and Dermal Fillers are used to correct wrinkles in different ways. Dermal Filler products are cosmetic filler injected into the skin, adding volume to smooth wrinkles such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). In contrast, Botox relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines between your eye brows, crow’s feet, and forehead.
How quickly do you see results?
You will see results immediately. The patient may have some swelling around the injection site so it may appear to be fuller for the first few days. Once the swelling goes down you will see your final result.
How much down time?
Down time is minimal. Patients can experience local bruising and swelling for a few days. Dr. Polon will accommodate patients with injections on Friday afternoon so they have the weekend to recover if they wish. Much of the bruising can be minimized by following the pre treatment instructions and it can be concealed with makeup if needed.
